From Time Immemorial Teacher's Guide
Recognizing that building awareness of treaty making must start at the elementary school level, and that the Social Studies 4 curriculum has a strong focus on aboriginal people, the Treaty Commission initiated a project to provide grade 4 teachers with tools on treaty making and self government.
Working with accomplished aboriginal teacher and author Diane Silvey and small BC publisher Pacific Edge Publishing, the Treaty Commission expanded the Teacher's Guide, From Time Immemorial: The First People of the Pacific Northwest Coast, to include background information and lesson plans on treaty making and self government. The Treaty Commission provided the Teacher's Guide, recommended by the Ministry of Education, to every elementary school in B.C. in October 2003.
