The Tanakteuk First Nation represent all the people who are descendants
of the Awaetlala and Tanakteuk Tribes of Knight Inlet as well as those
who have transferred to the Tanakteuk from other First Nations under
the Indian Act.

All those lands of the Knight Inlet area from a point situated from Protection
Point to Hoeya Point following the mountain tops to the head waters of
all the rivers and streams that empty into Knight Inlet.

The Chief and Council have received its mandate to enter into the treaty
negotiations process by way of a general meeting of the band members
and through letters received from urban members.
