3. Who are the aboriginal people represented by the First Nation?
The Pacheedaht Band represent those registered Indians, as defined by the Indian Act, whom are the descendants, relatives and members of the people historically known as the Pacheedaht. The Pacheedaht were organized as a tribe consisting of several family groups and were led by a hereditary Chief. Today, the Pacheedaht Band is a politically independent band.

The Pacheedaht Band is aware of overlap boundaries with neighbouring tribes. These overlaps includes areas on the southeast corner from Sheringham Point inland to the Jordan River along the western boundary of the T'Souke First Nation; and in the north, possible overlap areas may exist along the Cowichan Lake First Nation boundary. We share fishing rights with Ditidaht First Nation in the Swiftsure region located near the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

6. What is the First Nation's traditional territory in BC?
Historically the Pacheedaht traditional territory is on the southern west coast of Vancouver Island and includes offshore waters. The traditional territory includes the coast from Bonilla Point in the north to Sheringham Point in the south, and extends inland to the height of land on Vancouver Island. This territory includes Port San Juan and numerous watersheds, among them: Walbran Creek, Gordon River, San Juan River, Loss Creek and Jordan River. In addition, there are also areas beyond the territory described above where the Pacheedaht had rights of occupation and resource use and where there was shared access with other aboriginal peoples. The Pacheedaht traditional territory also includes offshore waters including fishing banks in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
