The Te'mexw Treaty Association (the "Association") is a society created pursuant to the Society Act R.S.B.C. 1976 c. 390, as amended, the members of which are the Beecher Bay, Malahat, Nanoose, Songhees, and T'Sou-ke First Nations (the "member First Nations").

3. Who are the aboriginal people represented by the First Nation?
The Association represents all members of the member First Nations as shown on the First Nation membership lists maintained by each First Nation or the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, as the case may be.

4. How many aboriginal people are represented by the First Nation?
The aggregate membership of the member First Nations is approximately 1068 people.

Is there any other First Nation that claims to represent the aboriginal people described in questions 3 and 4? If so, please list.

5. Please list any First Nations with whom the First Nation may have overlapping or shared territory.
Saanich First Nations, Sechelt Indian Band, Esquimalt Indian Band, Qualicum Indian Band, Nanaimo Indian Band, Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council and Hul'qumi'num First Nations.

6. What is the First Nation's traditional territory in BC?
The attached map (schedule a) is a draft. The boundaries shown are preliminary and research on the Te'mexw traditional territories is continuing.

Firstly, the Metchosin - Sooke district of Southern Vancouver Island [and other lands fronting the Straits of Juan de Fuca] (Beecher Bay).

Secondly, an area generally bounded by Goldstream to the south, Hatch Point to the north, and the watershed lying to the east of the Vancouver Island Range, and also including the Main, Galiano, Pender, San Juan, and Saltspring Islands and other islands within that grouping. (Malahat)

Thirdly, an area generally bounded by French Creek to the North, Pipers Lagoon to the south, and the Alberni Inlet to the west, and also including the Winchelsea, Bellinas and Gerald Islands and other Islands within that grouping. (Nanoose)

Fourthly, the south end of Vancouver Island and fishing areas on the Fraser River. (Songhees)

Fiftly, the Sooke - Metchosin -Port Renfrew district of Southern Vancouver Island and other lands fronting the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean. (T'Sou-ke)

Sixthly, certain lands and waters on or extending from Vancouver Island and portions of the lower mainland of British Columbia being the traditional fishing area of the member First Nations.
